Build Canada Homes Submission

In April 2026, HUMA (The House of Commons Standing Committee on Human Resources, Skills and Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities) sought feedback on Bill C-20: An Act respecting the establishment of Build Canada Homes.
The Social Housing and Human Rights coalition prepared a submission urging the Federal government to include social housing as an essential component of affordable housing policy and encouraged supporters to do the same.

To ensure that everyone in Canada has access to good-quality, safe housing, we must ensure federal investment in public and non-profit owned rent-geared-to-income housing. This submission outlines our call to action and advocates for social housing to be centre stage in Build Canada Homes.
